GAP 2007

The GAP Leadership has had some welcome new recruits in the form of Vanessa, Lizzie and Alex giving us a 5 strong team including Gill and myself.

Since the re-launch of GAP in January 2008 numbers have been steady at around 10 and marks a good start in re-establishing GAP and indeed the youth work at St James.

The aim is to build on these numbers and encourage more support and commitment from parents at St James to bring their kids along. To our knowledge there are over 30 children within the families that attend St James who qualify for participating in GAP and yet less than a third attend.

We have re-jigged the time to start at 7.30pm and finish at 9pm. While the recent format has been centred on games and some discussion this will be re-balanced so that there is greater emphasis on topical youth issues plus biblical references and of course fun.

We have recently subscribed to the monthly “Youthwork” magazine for on-going ideas and notification of youth events and have come up with a new GAP emblem (above), which hopefully creates the right feeling to the group.
