Churches Together in Bishop's Stortford 2007

It has been another busy year for Churches Together, not just with the events we organise, but also with associate members of Churches Together. Our main events are still The Good Friday March of Witness, Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, the Town Carnival and the advert in the local paper for the services at Christmas for all the churches in Bishop’s Stortford. The Week of Prayer ended with Pentecost Praise on Sworders Field. The event went well considering the poor weather on the day and we hope to repeat it this year. The chairperson is now John Walford (Baptist Church), deputy chair Peter Collect (St. Joseph’s), secretary Val Hart (Salvation Army) and treasurer John Emmet (St. Michael’s).

Events planned for this year:

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 5th – 10th May. St. James is responsible for Friday 9th May 12pm. until Saturday 10th May 12pm. The lists are in the Gathering Hall of the St. Barnabas Centre, or speak to Helen Turner or Clive Weir.

Shine 14th – 28th September, an event led by John Walford where he hopes there will be a ‘Clean Up Stortford’ and a ‘Getting to Know Your Neighbours’ events. Clive Weir is on the task group for this and will have more information about it later.

The Bishop’s Stortford Town Carnival 23rd June, Mandy Talbot is leading the task group and would be grateful for any offers of help on the day. Our stall at the Carnival is always quite busy.

Street Pastors – Alan Hart (Salvation Army) is heading this and the first training session will be on the 19th April in the Charis Centre 9.30am – 3.30pm.

If you want any further information about Churches Together in Bishop’s Stortford pleas speak to your representatives: Helen Turner or Clive Weir.
