I wish to thank all our committee members, Janet, Pam, Ann, Tara and Lynn for their hard work and the support they have given to this branch. To all our branch members, thank you all for all you do in the name of the Mothers’ Union in this branch and worldwide. You are making a difference to peoples’ lives and we must continue to do this. The MU continues to grow worldwide and we must play a part, however small in trying to strengthen membership. Support for each other and for families in the community, both here and overseas is much needed in today’s rapidly changing society. Thank you for the love, prayers and support that you give me to serve as your branch leader.
Here are some of the highlights from 2007. During the National Marriage week in February, a candle-lit supper was arranged for couples in the Barn. It was an evening full of joy, laughter, entertainment and delicious food.
In March, members joined in celebrating the Lady Day deanery service of thanksgiving, ‘Humble Lifted High’ and afternoon tea in Braughing. In May, we had a family fun day including a picnic lunch and fun games/activities for the young and mature members in our church community. It was a very enjoyable day, full of fun and friendship.
In June, the Deanery had a visit from St Paul’s West Hackney MU, and St James hosted this event (with support from other branches). The day kicked off with ‘cool drinks’ being served as our guest arrived because it was a very warm day, followed by sales of goods/plants to raise funds for MU projects, a sumptuous lunch, a guided tour of the Barn & St James by Bill Hardy, gentle country side walks around St James & St Michaels Mead and a service of Holy Communion taken by Rev Ann Kosla. Our guests went home after a lovely afternoon tea and cakes. What a lovely day that was!
