The parenting course is a friendly, informal course run by the Mothers' Union and aimed at parents with children between the ages of 0 and 6 years. There are seven weekly evening sessions, with an optional eighth session, and it is open to both couples and parents attending on their own.
Each week there is a brief warm up session followed by a video, and then a discussion of the issues raised by the video. New skills are practised and strategies planned for dealing with particular situations that might arise during the coming week. The evening finishes with a brief relaxation time.
The course provides a good chance to meet other parents and discuss problems and ideas in confidence, without being judged. It is well understood that there is no such thing as a perfect parent!
There is a small cost to cover the costs of the workbook, refreshments and hire of the hall. Each session lasts approximately two hours but pariticipants should allow for a little flexibility in timing. For more information please contact the Church Office.
There is also a specific parenting course aimed at helping parents with teenagers.
Please contact the church office for more details.
